“Wisdom comes through suffering.
Trouble, with its memories of pain,
Drips in our hearts as we try to sleep,
So men against their will
Learn to practice moderation.
Favours come to us from gods.” – Aeschylus Agamemnon
That’s the question. Why aren’t we happy?
Because we can’t fathom that happiness and peace that is ever present. That’s what all the scriptures say. We can’t fathom it.
Lately, I have been driven by the idea of Sustainable happiness. How do we sustain our happiness to not just come and go. But to stay with us, through it all. How do we not attach a color, look, and feel to what that happiness should be?
Maybe that’s part of the problem – we think we know happiness. Do we?
Can we let ourselves go, can we let the old experiences go so we can really experience new ones?
