When was the last time you unplugged and gave no focus or energy to anything but yourself?
There is too much that beckons us. Without our even knowing it, takes us by surprise. Between email, text message, Twitter, Facebook, blogging, bills, Youtube, cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, pinterest, news, magazines, television, Tivo, phone calls (received and made), old school snail mail, DVR, things you have to do, things you should do, and the list goes on.
These things have begun to define us. Instead of using them to our advantage we don’t know a life without them. They no longer enhance life, they are the only option.
Give yourself the gift of a day. A WHOLE DAY WITH NONE OF IT. A Whole Day with the greatest machine there is – Yourself!
I promise you the world will not shatter if you are unreachable for a day. Technology will not cave in on itself because you stopped checking your email.
It’s necessary that we return to less. That we return to what we know without machines and constant contact. That we return to our hearts, to our guts, to our instincts.
Where everything electronic gets shut off. Where you are by yourself.
You ever have a phantom vibration on your phone? Where we feel/hear our phone is ringing but its not? Thats not okay in my opinion. It means we are addicted.
Even machines need a break, even machines need to be shut down and unplugged from time to time, nothing is meant to work non-stop. Computers crash, we can crash. That’s why we must detox and give ourselves a break, empty our trash, clear up some space.
The options are endless. You can do it in your home if you live alone or set up the arrangements, but it requires discipline, that nothing turns on, nothing.
You can find nature. The beach, the forest, the dessert, the mountains. Just go and BE there.
You can rent a room somewhere for a day or two.
You can drive without knowing where, just drive.
You can bring books and journals, but maybe, maybe you really disconnect. Nothing comes in and nothing comes out except intuitions from your soul that don’t need to be written down because they are there, they don’t need to be remembered, they are you.
Simply go through it, fully. A lot will come up, every feeling will arise, from suffering, to joy and back again.
They’ll be time for all of it when you get back. But at that Moment you are there. YOU are There. You are Present. You are Free. You are Simple. You are Beautiful.
Peace and Blessings
