What would it take for me to except that my life is governed by chance, by laws that I have no idea about?
Even Einstein said, “The best explanation science can offer for the things that happened in the universe is that they happen as in a game of chance.”
Chance. All this crumble or grows by chance. There really is no explanation for the game of life; and yet, we all want to understand things. We all want to find an explanation that satisfies reason, anything to make it all make sense. We want to understand so bad, that we go beyond reason, we go into superstition and religion and mysticism. Each one of us, however straightlaced and un airy-fairy as we may be, each of us, has thousands of superstitions we carry at an any given moment. They make up our lives and dictate our actions. If we’re lucky, we notice them, not to stop them, but to take notice and smile. I smile at the ridiculous nature in which I live my life. The things I believe in that determine my conduct and even my smallest actions. I am not ashamed of my superstitions, I confess them. It might be nonsense, it might not be, often is. Sometimes, I believe, that maybe, just maybe, I have found a line, a secret law that determines the course of my life- If thousands of things can annoy me than thousands of things can also bring me joy. If it’s simply a game of chance, then I can make the rules. Rule 1: I am in control of the good fortune.
