Through concentration we gain insight to who we actually are-
a rolodex of shifting selves, each with it’s own agenda. Just try and sit down and all your hear is racket.
- “I’m someone who has no business doing this”, or “I don’t deserve this.”, “I should be doing this not this” or “I should celebrate however I want, fuck moderation.”
What deserves our attention? What needs to be ignored?
Facing these selves, these different personalities, it can be dark and ugly. It’s worth it.
Our tiny little selves have a thousand sneaky methods for sandbagging the truth, for pulling us away form right now. Overtime we need to get up and go somewhere, do something else, talk to someone else, start a project, surf the net, have a cup of tea; we have to take a moment and see who wants to go, and is it authentic.
Watch yourself. Watch how you define yourself.
Some sits will be great. Some days you will wish for that ignorance is bliss quality.
Some days the truth will sting so bad; but you go through it, or you don’t…
All of it is building this powerful inner strength.
“When a mosquito bites you during a sit, you notice it right away… But when you’re dancing around and a flea bites your balls you don’t notice it at all.” – A Teacher.
