The Movement Culture.
Whenever I need a bit of physical inspiration, I reach out to Ido Portal and his movement culture.
Movement Culture represents a contemporary paradigm shift in physicality, moving us away from main culprits in movement and fitness as well as the separation between health, aesthetics, performance and art. – Ido Portal
From the site:
The intention is not to present those involved as ‘Masters of Movement’ – as anyone presenting himself as such is delusional at best. No one can be a master of all movement pursuits.
What is the goal behind Movement Culture then?
First and foremost to create a dialogue and a cross disciplinary exchange of information between various types of movers. Information that was isolated in specific isolated practices can be extremely useful for other types of movers, but in the past this information was not shared. Second, the intention is to provide tools and support the development of Movers and specialists – practitioners of both isolated movement practices as well as wider spectrum ones.
What is a mover?
Someone who sees beyond the technicalities of each movement pursuit or discipline. Someone who finds interest and wishes to understand the body, health, performance and physical artistic expression.
How can I become involved?
The most important thing is to recognize yourself as a Mover and develop yourself as one. The Ido Portal Company is hosting various events providing an educational experience for Movers, we highly recommend you attend and learn more. As well, The Movement Camp is being hosted each year where Movers from around the world gather to study with Ido, his team and other guest teachers.
