Radical Acceptance

Radical Acceptance

If you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!Radical acceptance is a term I run back to over and over. Basically put, it’s taking what is, the “good” with the “bad”, life as it comes, each moment a moment for waking up. It also means accepting who you are, all of it, all of you. Your strengths and your strengths and your strengths (before you judge them). You will not nor can not be everyone’s cup of tea. Even the Dalai lama has trash talkers, and Gandhi has haters, and Theresa has flaws. According to the “ideas” of right and wrong, the “perspective” of …

#STAYWOKE

The first noble truth says simply that it’s part of being human to feel discomfort. It is clear to me, that in this country and abroad, a fire has broken out, we have faced fires before; Now, we must fight like we have never fought before! It will not be easy, but we were born fighters, and lovers, but yes- fighters. We must fight against injustices in our every day lives, not only for ourselves but for the people and communities who need it most.  This starts with small acts (and not behind a screen, but in real every day life actions): educating yourself, showing compassion, using your voice-by any …

If Your Body Shows Up That’s One Thing, If Your Energy Shows Up That’s Another

If your body shows up that’s one thing. If your energy shows up that’s another. That’s the faith of a mustard seed moving a mountain. It’s not a lot of faith, it’s simple actual faith. Energy and body showing up as one. That’s spiritual physics dominating physical physics. That’s what I aim for. The place where nothing scares you and everything is possible. Let us all show up as one. Body and mind. Heart and soul. Words and actions simultaneous and one.   If you find joy and value in what I do and share, please consider supporting with a recurring or one time donation of your choosing, between a cup …

It's Impossible To Do Good Work When You Have To Worry About Money

It’s Impossible To Do Good Work When You Have To Worry About Money

It is impossible to do good work when you have to worry about money. As an artist, I should only focus on doing good work. This is difficult in the best of circumstances. Considerations about budgets and money while working are creative poison. Whether the idea requires five hours or fifty has no bearing on the quality of the outcome. Simultaneously, if we are in the thing itself, meaning surviving from what we make, not worrying about financials is not an option either. For, life is not predictable, and worrying about money is stressful, and what’s worse, this fear and desperation will show up in our work, in our lives. More interesting …

Meditation Is About Figuring Out "Where We Are"

Meditation Is About Figuring Out “Where We Are”

Meditation Is About Figuring Out “Where We Are”.  “Where am I?” Part of me is afraid about tomorrow. Part of me is worried about my finances. Part of me is planning out what I’m gonna say to her. Part of me is thinking why I don’t ever get it right. Part of me has a numb leg and an itch. “Where am I?” In meditation we figure out where we are.   If you find joy and value in what I do and share, please consider supporting with a recurring or one time donation of your choosing, between a cup of coffee and some Trader Joe’s snacks. We Are Killing The Creative Class

We Are Killing The Creative Class

Our politicians hate culture; our media have given up serious reporting; our tech firms have stolen our content; our citizens are in hock to celebrity; our creators cannot make ends meet. To read Scott Timberg’s lament about the creative class is to despair about the state of American society. Change is no stranger to us in the twenty-first century. We must constantly adjust to an evolving world, to transformation and innovation. But for many thousands of creative artists, a torrent of recent changes has made it all but impossible to earn a living. A persistent economic recession, social shifts, and technological change have combined to put our artists—from graphic designers …

How Can I Expect To Be Well Fed With A Closed Mouth

How Can I Expect To Be Well Fed With A Closed Mouth

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “A closed mouth don’t get fed”. If not, it means if you aren’t prepared for what you want, you can’t expect to get it. Maybe you’ll get what it is you want, after time and time again of life knocking and knocking at your doorstep yelling, “Take me, allow me to take care of you, I know you want this, so let me give you the things you want.” Life shouldn’t and doesn’t have to yell and fight so hard for you to be at ease with it, if you simply prepare yourself. Let’s take relationships, more often or not we want these relationships, these things …

I'll Change… Not Tomorrow, TODAY.

I’ll Change… Not Tomorrow, TODAY.

Sit down and write everything you know you should do but don’t do. And then sit down and write everything you know you shouldn’t do but do do. (Yes I said do do)… And now begin to see all the excuses you have for not developing your will. See all the excuses for not changing. If your body shows up that’s one thing. If your energy shows up that’s another. That’s the faith of a mustard seed moving a mountain. It’s not a lot of faith, it’s simply actual faith. Energy and body showing up as one. That’s spiritual physics dominating physical physics. That’s what I aim for. If you find …

Be Careful When You Call For Divine Intervention, It Will Wreak Havoc When It Comes.

Be Careful When You Call For Divine Intervention, It Will Wreak Havoc When It Comes.

Be careful when you call for divine intervention. It will wreak havoc when it comes. We have devised ways of containing it, but it always comes. I think of music, the spirits that good music can set free in you (without your asking), can be chaotic, overwhelming; just like life, when you’re truly touched on the dancefloor, it’s not just pleasure, but shock, tears, possibly unwanted revelations. I don’t know if you hear it, but lately there is this ever present beep – it’s like a heart monitor – do you hear it? … beep …. beep … beep. We are being watched and monitored and we are seconds, moments …

We Must All Watch This Film On Standing Rock

This Gorgeous Short Film Takes Us to the Heart of the Dakota Access Pipeline Standoff   Given what we’re seeing in the election’s aftermath, photographer–filmmakerLucian Read clearly picked a prescient title for his recent mini-doc series on inequality in the United States: America Divided, which aired on EPIX in October and November, took us to corners of a nation still hurting from the Great Recession—from an addiction-ravaged Rust Belt town reeling from factory closures to New York City, where the housing crisis proved devastating to many Latinos and African Americans. Premiering here, Read’s latest short film, Mni Wiconi: The Standing at Standing Rock, turns a camera on the plight of …
