5 Tips For A Successful Meditation Practice

5 Tips For A Successful Meditation Practice

1. Create an event on your calendar with specific times for your meditation. I recommend 2-3 times per week to begin. Saying you’ll do it everyday if that’s not where you’re at would be tough. The goal is continuation, whether at home, a studio, in your car, or outside even for just 5 minutes a day. 2. Experiment. Beginners should be experimental.  Try different types of meditation, mindfulness, mantra, Qigong, tapping, breathwork, sound baths, sitting, lying, breath etc. Exploring the different modalities keeps it interesting and you will likely vibe more with one than the other. I’m a breath and mindful breathing guy myself. 3. Make the time. If Kobe, Oprah, Arianna and Bill …

The average American child sees 20,000 simulated murders before reaching age 18.

The average American child sees 20,000 simulated murders before reaching age 18. This is considered normal. There are thousands of films, television shows, that depict people doing terrible things to each other. If you read newspapers (who does that anymore?) or the Internet, you have every right to believe that bad nasty things compose 90% of the human experience. The authors of thousands of books published this year will hope to lord you into the glamour of killing, addiction, self hatred, shame, betrayal, extortion, robbery, cancer, and torture. You will be hard-pressed to find more than a few novels, films, new stories, and TV shows that dare to depict life …

4 Simple Ways To Practice Mindfulness

Mindfulness is about becoming fully aware of what’s happening in the present moment. And in today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to miss what’s going on around you. What Conditions Would Need In Order To Feel Like You Were living In Paradise?

What Conditions Would Need In Order To Feel Like You Were living In Paradise?

I need artist and thinkers who are brave and resourceful enough to explore the frontiers of beauty and truth and joy and compassion. Not zombies and crumbling and devastation and apocalypse and the end of the world. I need less bitching on the old world and more imagining on the New World. I need those who are ready and willing to share that this time, this moment is ripe and ample and conspiring for my success. That in order to live in paradise i must begin with my perception of paradise. I must begin by simple walking in paradise. I need the brave few who are willing to join me? …

Stories build us up or they tear us down

Stories build us up or they tear us down

I am doing whatever you say I’m doing. I am your story of me, no more no less. This is how some people and their concepts stick inside of our heads, because our story around them is that they are inspiring or motivating or repulsive. I am your guru if that’s your story of me. I am your enemy if that’s your story of me. Byron Katie says, “There’s no one out there but your story,” in her book loving what is. You tell one story of your partner and you turn yourself on. You tell another story of your partner and you turn yourself off. Uninvestigated stories often leave …

I need nothing I need nothing I need nothing

I need nothing I need nothing I need nothing

This is less metaphor and more fact. I need nothing. Some people need things, I am and this is not one of those moments. I need nothing. Everything I might need, I have. Thank God and all gods and all deities and blessed ones and anything that makes this reality possible. I need nothing. Any itch is desire and a want. Not bad, but good to know the difference. I need nothing. Not now at least. Or now. Or now. You get it. I don’t even need to be more mindful, or more happy, or healthier, or meditate more, or sleep more, or go to work, or leave my house, or …

Pronoia – One who suspects people of plotting to make them happy. – One who suspects people of plotting to make them happy.

“I believe reality is a marvelous joke staged for my edification and amusement, and everybody is working very hard to make me happy.” Terrence McKenna Pronoia Paranoia in reverse. One who suspects people of plotting to make them happy. Others are conspiring behind your back to help you. The suspicion that the universe is a conspiracy on your behalf. Life is a divine conspiracy to awaken us to our god like nature and become co-administrators of the divine plan for evolution.   If you find joy and value in what I do and share, please consider supporting with a recurring or one time donation of your choosing, between a cup …

Humanity And Our Ongoing Desire To Understand This Life Thing

Humanity And Our Ongoing Desire To Understand This Life Thing

It’s tough to get to involved in the search for ultimate meaning in a world where it’s hotter every year, crazy people carry guns, a reality TV stars the new American president, and students pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for a college degree. What do I do? Initiate a revolution, go on retreat, or just drink, get distracted and try and get laid? What do I do? Timothy Leary would say, I need to turn on, tune in, and drop out. Drop out of the headlines and stories of what is, and attune to what is; what really is. I don’t know all, but I know I play a …
