HEARTBREAK is unpreventable; the natural outcome of caring for people and things over which we have no control…
Heartbreak begins the moment we are asked to let go but cannot, in other words, heartbreak is the very essence of being human, of being on the journey from here to there, and of coming to care deeply for what we find along the way.
There is almost no path a human being can follow that does not lead to heartbreak.
Realizing heartbreak is inescapable, we can see heartbreak not as the end of the road, but the road. Heartbreak reveals who we are.
Heartbreak asks us not to look for another path, because there is no other path. Heartbreak is simple, and asking us to be ready for the ultimate letting go and moving forward towards a future goodness that transcends the current ability to understand what it is.
Heartbreak is not something you have but something you practice; it demands flexibility, openness, and imaginative excellence.
We are our best weapon against despair, even when despair seems justifiable. Only we could have imagined people like us into existence. And I believe all this heartbreak can help us create a better, more loving future.
That being said: Fight to love more. fight for what you love more. fight for more of what you love. Even love the day that escapes injustice. Love what you are learning. Love what you are giving. Love what you are getting. This time is ours and we cannot live hating it. Tonight is about the fight to love more. Thank you for being here. Thank you for fighting.
