Feel The Feet In Your Shoes And The Breath In Your Lungs

Feel the feet in your shoes and the breath in your lungs.

As I sit and get centered for my busy upcoming day, I am inspired by a phenomenal Hellen Keller quote I spied on Facebook. It says: “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all. Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature.”  This resonates as a very deep truth for me.

With everything that’s going on in the world these days (especially for those of us who feel subtle energies and the ebb and flow of the celestial influences), security and some sense of shelter from the proverbial storm would seem sweet relief. I myself have longed for some respite from the results of the recent eclipses, not to mention the recent Mercury Retrograde!

As I sit here with my warm cup of coffee in my sundrenched workspace, it occurs to me that the idea of leaning into and breathing through this emotionally chaotic and transformational time may be the best way navigate it. Having recently earned my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Certificate, I’ve learned that breathing in a yoga practice creates a powerful spaciousness in the mind and body.    It helps to calm the fluctuations of the mind (or the “chitta vritti” as we say in sanksrit), and has allowed me to sink even deeper into my own intuitive stream in order to access a greater understanding of the world.

It’s also the single most powerful form of life force we humans have.  We could go days without food and water, but just moments without breathing and sayonara, sister.

I began with the idea that security doesn’t really exist in nature – and I believe that. Any notion we have of grasping for a guarantee or security that life will be what we want and expect it to be may be robbing ourselves of the real gifts laid at our feet each day.  Have you considered how amazing you would feel if woke every day and KNEW beyond a shadow of a doubt that everything was going to unfold exactly as it should for your highest good?  How much more productive and happy could you be if you redirected the energy you use to worry about the unknown future to the present moment.  By the way, everything is always unfolding for your highest good, whether or not you see evidence of it on the outside.

Our monkey minds and modern lives don’t help engender feelings of ease, because we’re conditioned to constantly seek resolution and results, instead of resting deeply in the sense of knowing that as my hero Louise Hay says: “In the infinity of where we are, all is perfect whole and complete.”

I offer you this: no matter what life seems to present to you on the outside, lean in, and breathe through the tight spot. Send a juicy beam of your delicious life force right to the spot that aches, feels stuck, scared, blocked or painful.  Feel your feet in your shoes and the breath in your lungs. Take a moment  to see where the space you create changes your current perception of how life is working out and rest in knowing that right now, just as you are, you ARE perfect, whole and complete.

I had the honor of speaking with Crisann a few weeks ago, and the exchange was nothing short of lovely. Crisann had the patience and took the time to really help me through some tough feelings. I can honestly say that the conversation was life-changing. Thank you to Crisann and thank you to lifestyledezine for helping people to connect to a clearer version of themselves.
