Drop The Delusion
It is from cherishing oneself that one can gradually extend a similar attitude to others. … We already have the seed of love or compassion or affection for others because we have affection for ourselves. That is the seed. –from “Many Ways to Nirvana: Reflections and Advice on Right Living” by His Holiness the Dalai Lama,
Abhidharma says we die and are reborn 6,400,099,980 time sin 24 hours… This puts rebirth not in some future where we will pay for our sins or reap the benefits of our good behavior, but in this present moment, which is where we both experience and influence our karma.
Drop the delusion.
We are now on the path to our dying.
There is no real basis for our privilege – we didn’t warn it – we simply came into life with thankfully working features and an ability for consciousness… So now what?
View yourself with loving kindness and go from there.
See others happiness not as something you don’t have but as something I can contribute to.
And sometimes the best way to help oneself is to help others… And believe in them.
“If I’m only happy for myself, many fewer chances for happiness. If I’m happy when good things happen to other people, billions more chances to be happy.” – Dalai Lama
Praise and blame,
Gain and loss,
Pleasure and sorrow
Come and go like the wind.
To be happy,
Rest like a great tree
In the midst of them all.
