“Anyone who has ever struggled with poverty knows how extremely expensive it is to be poor.” – James Baldwin
You pay more for car insurance because of where you live.
You pay more for rent, way more than your place is worth.
Your pay more for food, because it cost more in poor neighborhoods. Never mind that ”healthy” food is on average $45 more a month.
You pay a higher percentage of your income in state and local taxes.
You cash checks at places that take a cut.
You can’t have a bank account because you can’t afford the fees.
You pay more for public transit, because you can’t afford a monthly pass.
You have an old car that breaks down often because you couldn’t get a new one.
“Ones feet have simply been placed on the treadmill forever.” – James Baldwin
