Sustainable Thinking

Sustainable Thinking

by in General, Mindfulness & Spirituality.

We are so obsessed with this word lately – Sustainable: Sustainable 1. able to be maintained at a certain rate or level. “sustainable fusion reactions” 2. able to be upheld or defended. “sustainable definitions of good educational practice” Sustainable happiness. Sustainable fulfillment. We want to just have something that we can maintain, that we can sustain, in a healthy and mindful way. So, lately I’ve been focusing my energy on “Sustainable Perception.” How do I sustain a clear, clean level of perception on and in the world? A perception that heals more than harms? A perception that loves more than hates? A perception that inspires more than diminishes? If I’ve learned anything as a storyteller. Everything …

The Mindful Shift

The Mindful Shift

by in Mindfulness & Spirituality.

The Mindful Shift: A movement which takes us from grasping of what we love and know… to truly knowing. Knowing that we only own the the things we let go of. We let go. Now we can live. The art of sitting The art of quiet The art of listening The art of receiving The art of perceiving The art of allowing The art of insight The art of knowledge The art of attachment The art of letting go The art of trusting The art of knowing The art of living. If you find joy and value in what I do and share, please consider supporting with a recurring or …

I Don't Know Why We Got Here

I Don’t Know Why We Got Here

by in General, Mindfulness & Spirituality, Moving & Eating.

I don’t know how, I mean i know how– the bird and the bees, yes… But the billion other things I don’t know. I know we suffer, but I know we are not meant to suffer. I know that I have to do whatever I have to do, whatever I can to enjoy this moment as much as possible. I know I need to train my perception to realize that for whatever reason (reason doesn’t really matter) I am here and my immediate needs are met. I woke up this morning – Think about it, I woke up this morning, I woke up this morning, Gotta smile when I say …

The Bed Of Nails Theory

The Bed Of Nails Theory

by in Mindfulness & Spirituality.

You may have heard that a high-heeled shoe exerts more pressure on the ground than the foot of an elephant. This is the same principle that allows people to lie on a bed of nails without breaking their skin. The bed of nails theory, one nail and the skin is punctured. A whole bed of them, not one of them sticks out enough to puncture the skin. Like lies. Like deception. Like betrayal. I want to think about good qualities too, but I would love a bed of love and kindness and compassion, I would have no problem with getting swallowed up in that bed of nails. That’s the thing, …

We Have To Be Better Pigeons

We Have To Be Better Pigeons

by in Mindfulness & Spirituality, Moving & Eating.

Why pigeons? Pigeons are everywhere. They are vegetarians, (unless they are in NY) which is sustainable. What is commonly referred to as a pigeon is actually a “Rock Dove”- which is cool. The pigeon has contributed to both World War I and II, notably by the Australian, French, German, American, and UK forces. Thirty-two pigeons have been decorated with the Dickin Medal for war contributions, including Commando, G.I. Joe, Paddy, and William of Orange. A grand ceremony was held in Buckingham Palace to commemorate a platoon of pigeons that braved the battlefields of Normandy to deliver vital plans to Allied forces on the fringes of Germany. Three of the actual …

The Art Of Contagion: How To Be More Contagious

The Art Of Contagion: How To Be More Contagious

by in General, Mindfulness & Spirituality.

We have to be contagious. CONTAGIOUS (adjective) 1. capable of being transmitted by bodily contact with an infected person or object: contagious diseases. 2. carrying or spreading a contagious disease. 3. tending to spread from person to person: contagious laughter. 1) We have to be capable of transmitting joy, love, abundance, mindfulness, compassion, kindness by bodily contact. 2) We have to carry this contagious love with us at all times. We have to make sure we don’t lose it. 3) We have to make sure it SPREADS, from person to person, like laughter, like love. More contagious than anything else. No one said a virus had to be bad, no one said an outbreak was always deadly. …

How To Believe When The World Is Suffering

How To Believe When The World Is Suffering

by in Mindfulness & Spirituality.

People living in poverty is truly heartbreaking. People with food insecurity and poor health and lack of clean water is horrible. Just the thought of babies dying of hunger, people contracting preventable diseases and young girls being trafficked as sex slaves sends most compassionate hearts into a tailspin of gut wrenching empathy. How does this happen? With the work that I do helping people to build wealth, wholeness, health, attract abundance and manifest their desires, I sometimes notice an inner conflict within people wondering how they can thrive in a world of suffering. It poses the question that if we do indeed create our own reality, then why do people choose to be …

How Does Suffering Manifest For You?

How Does Suffering Manifest For You?

by in General, Mindfulness & Spirituality.

It’s happening, even right now, we are pushing our sufferings into a corner, or covering them up with ice cream and social calendar bookings. These sufferings don’t have to be huge and earth shattering, like not knowing where your next meal will come from, yes, for some people, that is their reality; knowing this doesn’t mean you don’t suffer for not being happy and fulfilled din your job – suffering is suffering. And compassion is compassion. Compassion moves us into the suffering of the world, not away from it, INTO the suffering in a very creative way. It opens the doors to a universal thing we ALL experience. Suffering and compassion …

4 Ways Meditation Makes You Superhuman: It’s Science

4 Ways Meditation Makes You Superhuman: It’s Science

by in Mindfulness & Spirituality.

The energy emitted by people who have reached an advanced level in meditation practice has been shown by multiple studies to exceed normal human levels by hundreds or thousands of times. Here’s a look at a few such studies:  1. Gamma Waves Off the Charts Neuroscientist Richard Davidson’s 2004 study on the energy emitted by Tibetan meditating monks is chronicled by Stanford University. Davidson tested the Dalai Lama’s most advanced monks, each with 15 to 40 years of meditation practice. He measured the gamma waves emitted by their brains with electroencephalograph (EEG) testing and brain scanning. A control group of 10 students with no previous meditation experience was also …

Black Lives Matter

Meeting Violence with Kindness

by in Mindfulness & Spirituality.

On the evening of July 15, I drove into downtown Baton Rouge and checked into a squalid motel room that reeked like my father’s car—cigarette smoke overpowered by the scent of cheap cologne. Weeks earlier I had made the decision to spend a night in Baton Rouge while driving back to Houston from Oxford, Mississippi, not knowing what a historical moment in American history awaited me. Alton Sterling’s funeral service had been held earlier that day, and my intention was to find a Black Lives protest or march that night. I was outraged by the murder of the 37-year-old black man, who was shot while pinned on the ground during …

Turning Ordinary Into Magical

Turning Ordinary Into Magical

by in General, Mindfulness & Spirituality.

What is the process which turns the ordinary into magical? A person doesn’t have to be spiritual or religious to know that there is something greater than the self, than the force we think we we have control over; it’s physics. It’s a force beyond our control that pulls things and people together. Extraordinary is simply more delicate than ordinary. Then we have to go back to the ordinary with a sensitive and extraordinary eye, making it unordinary; making it magical. Ordinary to magical is a process, it’s a practice, it takes a commitment to seeing, being, and living in a world that is magical. Are you committed to being in …

Where Does Knowing Live In You?

Where Does Knowing Live In You?

by in General, Mindfulness & Spirituality.

You are either thinking about what you know, or you’re thinking about what you think you know. They are very different. One is in the body. The other is floating around. How do we get to a place of speaking, being from from what we truly know? Not what we think we know. Where does knowing live in you? What do you know? Actually know? Your mind is in every cell of your body. Knowing lives in you. Language is our second language, body language is our first language. We know what we know on a cellular, a visceral level, and we translate it into language. Thinking is tick tick time. Knowing is now …

Make A Commitment To Not Knowing

Make A Commitment To Not Knowing

by in Mindfulness & Spirituality.

Something special comes from NOT Knowing. Magic comes from “I don’t know.” Like those first moments in a relationship, it’s everything and anything all at the same time. We don’t know what it is but we are grateful and excited for what it might become. Then we start naming things, boyfriend, girlfriend, commitments, 3 months, 6 months, partner, moving in, shared cat, engaged… And with each commitment the potential for I don’t know gets smaller and smaller, the potential for the limitless shrinks and we are this one thing we’ve claimed ourselves to be. We think we know and so we have shrunk to that thing. I say we are …

You Can't See Good Coming

You Can’t See Good Coming

by in Mindfulness & Spirituality.

You never could. You never saw the good coming. You hoped for it, maybe you hoped for it. You wanted it, but it hit you by surprise. You made room for it, consciously or subconsciously, but you didn’t see it coming. Take people who date. People plan to hook up, people plan to get lucky – but love, being affected, that intimacy– that always smacks them in the face. You can’t plan for that kind of good, real good always catches you by surprise. But you can make room for it. When that good happens you’ve always been making room for it, either consciously or subconsciously. All the living and suffering …

Reverberations: the movement between ideas and actions

Reverberations: The Movement Between Ideas And Actions

by in Mindfulness & Spirituality.

Reverberations: the movement between ideas and actions. I don’t know if we all prayed for the same kind of outcome, but we’re getting it. Call it want you want and tell yourself what you must, but it’s happening because of you and me. It’s magic really, that allows all these little things to become ONE thing. If i had to share one thing with the world, it would be trust. I would put my prayers into trust. I would let magic turn trust into one thing, into all things. I don’t know if we pray for the same kind of outcome, but maybe we can? Maybe we should? – Christopher …

If You Ingest Without Excretion You Will Die

If You Ingest Without Excretion You Will Die

by in Mindfulness & Spirituality, Moving & Eating.

If you ingest without excretion you will die. You can not take in without letting out. This is true for food and knowledge. Knowledge without some outside function is toxic. Spiritual food without some sort of sharing is spiritual indigestion. We must let out for all that we put in. We must give for all that we take. Vice versa – we must put in if we let too much go. This is a home for all things related to maximizing ones life. Join us.

Change Is Not About Taking Something Away But Integrating Something New

Change Is Not About Taking Something Away But Integrating Something New

by in Mindfulness & Spirituality.

Take disorder for example: Disorder is a creative solution to a problem. A solution that worked for a time to suppress and/or heal. But eventually the “solution” cause more problems than benefits. Now, one can’t take anything away without receiving something new. It’s not, “this is bad”, but rather, “check this out, this also works and is more sustainable, give it a try.” Illness: Is a healthy reaction to a sick situation. Love the illness, love it, love your healthy responses, listen to them so you can get well again. It’s about changing relationships. We can’t just keep fixing what’s broken. Sustainability means using the “junk”, the “trash”, the disposed …

give love

Why I Don’t Give People Gifts On the Holidays

by in Mindfulness & Spirituality.

Yes, you heard that right. I don’t actually buy people gifts on holidays, or birthday, or almost any socially agreed upon time of giving for that matter. Why? Because honestly, I’m not inspired to most of the time. This may seem potentially strange to many of you or it may even come across as selfish. I can assure you it’s not. I have spent a lot of time considering if giving a gift out of a sense of obligation or even guilt is really giving. I surely don’t want anyone to give me anything because they feel like they have to. I can only image that you wouldn’t either. The only definition I can …

Another Level Of Being In The World Is Coming

Another Level Of Being In The World Is Coming

by in Mindfulness & Spirituality, Moving & Eating.

Together, we are cracking the categories of being. We must crack the present model of life which generates stress in search of development. This present model of stress allows men to be killed and their killers to walk away without any repercussions. The current model has board game reality show host as presidential candidates. The current model allows anyone to get a gun in Walmart. The current model says all this is our right and our duty. The current model has cracks, it is our right and our duty to find these cracks, we are here to find the cracks. Cracks create openings, openings are the discovery of the new …

I've Been Thinking About The Immediacy Of Life

Thinking About The Immediacy Of Life

by in Mindfulness & Spirituality.

I’ve been thinking about the immediacy of life. How we inherently desire this immediacy but are so afraid of how actual it is, that in a single moment this life which is not granted to us can vanish. Unfortunately, now, it is so present how immediate things can turn, how someone can walk in and take you or a loved ones life or a malicious attempt can be made on your life when you had no idea. So what, what does that do, where does that leave us? How are we not awake to this un-guarantee of life, to this here and now necessity to actually living. Awake that we …

Things Are Not Getting Worse, They're Just Getting Uncovered

Things Are Not Getting Worse, They’re Just Getting Uncovered

by in General, Mindfulness & Spirituality, Moving & Eating.

Things are being revealed. We are unearthing the cracks in the system. Look deep enough and you will find flaws. Give it time and the flaws will reveal themselves. We are covered in flaws and imperfections- they have forced themselves to the surface. The world is now on notice, the world is not (hopefully) aware, conscious, and present that we need more love, that our actions matter, that we can not be innocent bystanders. We are realizing how much we are soaked in fear, doubt and worry. We are noticing that most people exist in a state of lack and fear their inherent survival. We are hearing the cries and the …

How Easily We Stop Ourselves From Living

How Easily We Stop Ourselves From Living

by in Mindfulness & Spirituality.

From really living! Full steam ahead. How quickly we cut ourselves off from this moment, from this thing called life, which is happening right here, right now. You see, anytime we look back or thinks head we have stopped living. We have cut ourselves off. Once you start thinking about the beginning its the end…Once you start thinking about the beginning its the end.  – Junot Diaz A line begins and runs on, over bumps and scrapes, but runs on. And then it thinks about where it came from, it wonders if that was better than this, it  compares then to now and it looks back…  And it, the moment, this …

There Is So Much Good Coming Your Way

There Is So Much Good Coming Your Way

by in General, Mindfulness & Spirituality.

There is so much Good coming your way. I repeat: There is so much Good coming your way. Good you haven’t even thought of yet. Good on a level you have yet to experience, but its there, waiting, saying come get me, let me in, I’m ready, are you? Can you embrace that there is a plan for you? And its not insignificant, It matters. Nothing is too grand for you, nothing is to good to be true for you. Say yes to this fact. Say yes to your soul wanting to know itself more, wanting to let itself shine a little more. You are never a victim, this is …
